James Moloi, the President of Athletics South Africa (ASA), is facing a potential suspension after questions were raised over his use of the federation’s credit card. The ASA board has given Moloi until Friday to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken.
The issue stems from a report by the SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee, which highlighted several transactions considered irregular. Some of the flagged expenses included visits to taverns, which Moloi has previously said were linked to official business meetings.
ASA has also confirmed that a broader review will be undertaken to determine if any other executives should be subject to disciplinary measures. The findings are expected to influence governance and financial accountability practices within the federation.
