Multilateral coalition demands unconditional Israeli withdrawal to 1967 borders

The African Union (AU) Commission, the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC), and the League of Arab States have issued a joint call for an immediate and unconditional end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, demanding a full withdrawal to secure regional stability.

The joint declaration followed consultative meeting held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, bringing together representatives from the three multilateral organisations to evaluate escalating developments concerning the Palestinian cause.

In their formal communique, the organisations reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to advancing practical steps toward the implementation of the two-state solution. They emphasized that sustainable peace in the Middle East requires the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in strict adherence to international law and relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions.

The participating bodies also expressed strong support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, condemning ongoing measures that target the agency’s operational mandate.

Furthermore, the coalition praised nations that have formally recognized the State of Palestine, urging the broader international community to follow suit and support full Palestinian membership in the UN as a foundational step toward lasting regional security.
