Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, has met with Afkar Nadhim Ali Al Farsi, Ambassador of the Oman to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU, to discuss peace efforts and co-operation.
During the meeting at AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ambassador Al Farsi delivered a message from Badr Al Busaidi, thanking the AU Chairperson for his continued support for peaceful solutions to the conflict in the Middle East.
The message praised the AU’s position in calling for dialogue, diplomacy and an end to hostilities through non-violent means.
Youssouf, in response, reaffirmed the AU’s commitment to respect for sovereignty and international law. He also acknowledged Oman’s role in promoting dialogue and mediation, describing it as constructive in efforts to reduce tensions and find a lasting solution to the crisis.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen co-operation between the AU and Oman, with both reaffirming their support for multilateralism, conflict prevention and efforts to promote peace and stability across their regions.
