Chairperson of the AU Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said the agreement reflects the importance of diplomacy in resolving conflict and fostering cooperation between nations. “This agreement demonstrates the power of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts and building trust between nations,” Youssouf said.

Youssouf said the deal offers renewed hope for peace and stability in a region with global economic and security significance. “It offers renewed hope for peace, stability, and cooperation in a region whose security and prosperity have global significance,” Youssouf said.

Youssouf also commended the leadership and engagement of all parties involved in the negotiations, including US President Donald Trump.

Youssouf acknowledged the role of regional and international mediators who contributed to advancing the agreement.

Youssouf highlighted the efforts of Pakistan, Oman, Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye in facilitating dialogue and building confidence between the parties.

Youssouf expressed optimism that the agreement will pave the way for long-term peace and strengthened international cooperation.

Youssouf said the development aligns with the AU’s commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful means.

The AU said it remains ready to support initiatives that promote cooperation, mutual respect and sustained peace among nations.
