The African Union Sports Council (AUSC)has appointed former Nigeria national team coach Samson Siasia as Brand Ambassador for Region 2 in West Africa to promote sports development and advocacy.
AUSC Secretary General Michael Mustapha said Siasia was selected because of his achievements as a coach and his contribution to youth development through his football academy. He said Siasia remains one of the most successful recent coaches to achieve continental recognition for Nigeria’s football programme.
Siasia welcomed the appointment, saying he was honoured to serve as an ambassador for the AU sports initiative and contribute to promoting sports across West Africa.
