Newly called-up South Africa’s (SA) national soccer team, Bafana Bafana wingback Thabang Matuludi is drawing inspiration from his former Polokwane City teammate Oswin Appollis’ rise at the international level.
Speaking to the media this week, during Bafana’s press conference, Matuludi, who was part of this year’s Council of Southern Africa Football Associations Cup squad in Bloemfontein, says having someone like Appollis, attracting the attention of the national selectors, helped them.
Matuludi is expected to compete with Khuliso Mudau for the next two crucial World Cup qualifying matches against Zimbabwe and Rwanda this week, as they look to seal their spot for next year’s big spectacle.
However, last season, an injury delayed Matuludi’s progress, but he believes in perfect timing.
