The Border Management Authority (BMA) says its staff are working closely with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to strengthen border security.

The BMA is engaging Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs which is on an oversight visit to the Beitbridge Border Post between SA and Zimbabwe.

BMA Commissioner Doctor Mike Masiapato says, “The second part of what they are interested in is to also check outside the port in terms of the work that we do to be able to make sure that those people that are being exited, none of them are going to walk back to the country illegally.”

“So that’s one other area that we are going to do in the afternoon. We are going to take them through the borderline, working together with our colleagues from the defense force out there in terms of what we are doing from a response perspective. But also working together with the border guards using the drones and all the other technologies,” explains Masiapato
