The air in Kgale View was electric on Tuesday as Botswana’s 2024 Paris Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo, was handed the keys to a brand-new house, a fitting reward for his historic achievements on the global stage.
The three-bedroom property, valued at P2.1 million ($161 700) and set on a 562-square-metre plot, was presented by the Minister of Sport and Arts, Jacob Kelebeng. The gift comes in recognition of Tebogo’s golden performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he claimed gold in the 200 metres and silver in the 100 metres, putting Botswana firmly in the international sporting spotlight.
Tebogo’s victories have brought him significant rewards, including cash bonuses, a house, a tractor, and ongoing support from corporate sponsors such as Choppies and Orange. Combined with government incentives, endorsements, and prize money, the 2024 Olympic triumphs have made Tebogo a millionaire, with his net worth estimated at around $2 million by the end of 2024.
