The Botswana government says the national period of mourning in honour of former President Festus Mogae, will continue until May 16.
During the mourning period, national flags will continue to fly at half-mast at all government buildings, ministries, diplomatic missions and public institutions.
Mogae was the third President of Botswana.
Mogae was widely acclaimed for his commitment to good governance and his management of the diamond-rich nation’s economy during his decade-long tenure.
He died on Friday at the age of 86.
