Botswana in mourning following the passing of former President Mogae

Mogae died on Friday at the age of 86.
The Botswana government says the national period of mourning in honour of former President Festus Mogae will continue until Saturday, May 16.
During the mourning period, national flags will continue to fly at half-mast at all government buildings, Ministries, Diplomatic Missions and public institutions.
Mogae died on Friday at the age of 86.
Memorial and funeral service arrangements are expected to be announced soon.
Lawrence Seretse from the Botswana Government Communications department says, ” The government wishes to inform members of the public of the prayer arrangements and national mourning programme in honour of the late former president, His Excellency Festus Gontebanye Mogae. The prayer sessions commence today. The government further informs the nation that the national mourning period shall continue until Saturday, the 16th of May”.
Seretse says during this period, the national flag shall continue to fly at half-mast at all government buildings as a mark of respect and remembrance in honour of the late former Mogae’s legacy and contribution to national development.
