Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has extended his support to both Christian and Muslim institutions in Morocco through substantial donations.
During a visit to the Cathedral St Pierre Catholic Church in Rabat, Motsepe contributed $250 000 via the Motsepe Foundation. The donation is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support faith-based and cultural organisations across Africa, particularly during major football tournaments.
Motsepe explained that a similar donation was planned for a Muslim organisation in Rabat. Earlier during the Africa Cup of Nations, he also donated $200 000 to Muslim communities in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and in Côte d’Ivoire.
Beyond supporting religious organisations, Motsepe reaffirmed his foundation’s commitment to developing grassroots football, pledging continued funding for Pan-African school football programmes aimed at nurturing young talent across the continent.
