The appeal comes amid rising concern over violent crimes in the country. Last week, in Mwanza District, southern Malawi, residents discovered the skeletal remains of two girls, aged 10 and 12, in separate locations after they had been missing for several days.

The shocking discovery has sparked public outrage and reignited debate over the need for harsher penalties for violent offenders.
