Cameroon’s opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma Bakary has called for protests on Friday as he vows to fight until what he calls the final victory over President Paul Biya’s supporters took to the streets again in Douala on Thursday.

At least 23 people have been killed since the weekend. Chiruma has also called for protests on Friday. He says on Friday, every Cameroonian, wherever they are, should come out and march and make sure that the victory doesn’t finally go Paul Biya’s way, as he reportedly prepares for his inauguration, which will likely be on the November 6.

The protests coincide with the 40th anniversary celebration of Biya’s party, the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement. Calm was reporeted on Friday morning, with a heavy presence of the military on the country’s streets and on major road junctions.
