Manchester United coach, Michael Carrick has apologised to the club’s supporters after a dismal showing against Como in the Union of European Football Associations Champions League Wednesday night.
Como, who are making their debut in the prestigious tournament, thrashed United 4-1 in northern Italy.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Bayern Munich played to a two-all draw in London.

Nico Paz scored the first of his two goals for Como just two minutes into the clash.

For United, it was the start of their Italian nightmare.

After 90 minutes of play, Como enjoyed a 4-0 lead, although United scored twice in additional time, the damage was already done.

It is seen as one of their worst European performances ever.

Carrick says: “First of all, I want to, I have to apologise to the supporters. I went over to the end, and I care about this football club as much as anyone, if not more, you know, the position that I’m in, and what I value this football club, and for us to play in that way, it’s not acceptable.”

But Como coach, Cesc Fabregas praised his charges for their performance.

“A lot of my players it’s their first, second, or third game in Europe. So, I value this a lot, and for me, the most important thing is how they approach the game without fear. I need my teams to be like this, because I demand certain things that demands big responsibility, and when you don’t play with a free head, when you don’t play with conviction, and when you don’t have clear ideas, it’s very difficult.”
