Some women who entered Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta during a mass migrant crossing on July 30 say the hardships of sleeping rough while waiting to be registered are being compounded by fears of sexual harassment.
More than a dozen women have set up camp along a wooded roadside leading to the barbed-wire fencing around a government run migrant reception centre, near the El Trampolin beach.
Camped outside, the women sleep in the open air, exposed to dangerous elements as they wait for assistance.
Local authorities say the centre is sheltering about 700 people, around 200 more than its capacity.
