In Chad, the Permanent Framework for Political Dialogue (CPDP) was officially inaugurated on February 4, 2026 at the Palais Toumaï, in a ceremony presided over by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.
Created by the presidential decree, the CPDP aims to encourage consultation between political parties and support the country’s democratic process. The forum is made up of 30 members, equally divided between the presidential majority and the democratic opposition.
A notable absence from the CPDP is the party Les Transformateurs. Its leader, Dr Succès Masra, has been in prison since May 2025 on charges including spreading hate speech and complicity in assassination in connection with the Mandakaou case.
AbdelKerim Koundoungouni, leader of the political movement Le Pacte des Bâtisseurs, said the CPDP could offer an important space for dialogue but stressed that the inclusion of all political voices is essential for a credible and representative democratic process.
