China has removed tariffs for all African countries, with the exception of eSwatini, which continues to maintain diplomatic ties with Taiwan.

The zero-tariff access to the Chinese market officially came into effect on Friday.

The tariff is offering South African firms a potentially significant new export opportunity and a gateway to expanded trade.

Beijing has boasted that it is the first major economy to offer unilateral zero-tariff treatment to Africa.
