Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF says China’s development model offers valuable lessons as the country pursues its Vision 2030 national development agenda.
Speaking at the International Seminar on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Its Relevance to the World in China’s Ningxia Autonomous Region, ZANU-PF Research Director Dunny Derera said Zimbabwe’s liberation values of self-determination, economic sovereignty and people-centred development closely align with China’s approach to poverty alleviation.
“As a proud Zimbabwean and a member of a nation guided by the revolutionary values of ZANU-PF, I find many areas of connection between China’s development philosophy and our own ideological foundations. ZANU-PF was born from the liberation struggle, founded on the principles of self-determination, empowerment of the masses, economic sovereignty and people-centred development. The party’s commitment to leave no one and no place behind resonates strongly with China’s approach to poverty alleviation. Under the leadership of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe adopted Vision 2030, a national development agenda aimed at transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy.”
