The closure comes days after several clashes between the country’s soldiers and armed groups from its neighbour. N’Djamena says the decision was made in response to what Communications Minister, Mahamat Gassim Cherif has termed ‘repeated incursions and violations of Chadian territory by forces involved in the Sudanese conflict’.
The government has re-iterated that it has the right to retaliate against what it has called, further violations of its territory. The escalations come as fears mount that the conflict country spread into Chad. Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces are continuing to conduct operations border region, three years into the conflict, which has claimed the lives of nine Chadian soldiers and displaced millions of Sudanese residents.
