COMESA promotes green energy and infrastructure investment in Qatar
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has used its platform at the 9th United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) World Investment Forum in Doha to advance regional investment reforms and forge strategic international partnerships.
Delegates from COMESA member states highlighted the bloc’s ongoing initiatives to harmonise investment legal frameworks, improve cross-border regulatory transparency, and attract sustainable capital flows. The engagement forms part of wider efforts to modernize the regional investment climate under updated frameworks like the Common Investment Area agreements.
The discussions in Doha center on mobilizing foreign and intra-African investment into vital sectors such as infrastructure, green energy, and agriculture, while addressing the broader economic headwinds facing developing economies. COMESA representatives highlighted that deeper regulatory integration and investor-friendly reforms remain essential to unlocking the region’s vast economic potential and boosting intra-African trade.
