The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is set to conclude its Thirteenth Technical Committee Meeting and Fifteenth Ministerial Meeting on Gender and Women Affairs on April 16, 2026, in Ethiopia Addis Ababa.
The three-day meetings, which began on April 14, have brought together senior officials, policymakers and stakeholders from across the region to review progress on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Discussions have centred on strengthening gender-responsive policies, improving institutional frameworks and speeding up the implementation of programmes aimed at inclusive development across COMESA member states.
Technical experts have been feeding into recommendations expected to guide ministerial decisions at the close of the session.
The outcomes are expected to shape regional co-operation and reinforce efforts to advance the rights and opportunities of women and girls across the bloc.
