Commonwealth envoy has held talks with Tanzanian opposition leaders

A Commonwealth envoy has held talks with Tanzanian opposition leaders following the disputed 2025 elections.

Former President of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera met with Tundu Lissu and Luhaga Mpina to discuss concerns around the credibility of the vote and the political situation in the country.

In an interview, political analyst Jerry Muro said the visit signals growing regional interest in the developments in Tanzania and could open the door for dialogue between the government and opposition.

The engagement comes amid ongoing concerns over the conduct of the 2025 elections and calls for greater transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
