The United Nations mission (UN) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), MONUSCO, says conflict-related sexual violence remains widespread.

The organisation says particularly in the eastern provinces of North and South Kivu.

A new report by the UN Joint Human Rights office has documented hundreds of cases last year.

The cases are affecting more than fifteen hundred victims, most of them women and girls.
