The National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) has issued a stark warning regarding the deteriorating state of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), explicitly labeling the country a “nation in peril.”
In a powerful communiqué released in Kinshasa following an extraordinary plenary assembly, the country’s influential Catholic bishops painted a grim picture of the DRC’s current socio-economic, security, and political crises.
Crucially, the bishops drew a firm line against any political maneuvering to alter or completely change the national constitution, pointedly calling on President Félix Tshisekedi to strictly uphold and respect his constitutional oath.
