Doctors in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have embarked on a nationwide strike.
The demonstrations are citing government’s failure to provide concrete responses to their demands, which include salary increases, improved working conditions, and greater investment in the health sector.
The strike comes at a critical time as the country battles an Ebola outbreak that has recorded 515 confirmed cases and 91 deaths.
Health workers say they are also struggling to access basic protective equipment needed to safeguard themselves and help prevent the further spread of the virus.
