Opposition leaders in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are joining forces to block President Félix Tshisekedi’s proposed reforms to the country’s 2006 Constitution.

The move has intensified political debate in the DRC, with critics arguing that constitutional changes could reshape the country’s political balance ahead of future elections.

In an interview from Kinshasa, retired DRC parliamentarian Kizerbo Kasereka welcomed the opposition’s united stance against the proposed reforms.

“The opposition’s decision to unite against the constitutional reform proposal reflects growing concerns about protecting democratic institutions and preserving the spirit of the 2006 Constitution,” Kasereka said.

Kasereka was speaking during an interview with journalist Abedi Jean dela Croix on the growing political tensions surrounding the proposed constitutional changes.
