EAC equips Burundi with border patrol vehicles

The East African Community (EAC) Secretariat has officially handed over two border patrol vehicles to the Republic of Burundi to enhance security operations, curb transnational cross-border crime, and safeguard regional trade corridors.

The vehicles were formally delivered to representatives of the Government of Burundi at a ceremony supported through ongoing regional peace, security, and governance initiatives under the EAC framework.

The handover aims to boost operational capacity along key border points, enabling law enforcement agencies to respond swiftly to illicit cross-border movement, smuggling, and security threats while facilitating legitimate trade and movement of people across East Africa.
