The East African Community (EAC) and the People’s Republic of China have formalised an agreement to deepen regional integration, economic development, and institutional co-operation across East Africa.
Signed at the EAC Secretariat in Arusha, Tanzania, the accord saw EAC Secretary General Ambassador Stephen Mbundi and Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania and the EAC Chen Mingjian execute a Certificate of Donation to support regional integration initiatives.
The agreement builds on preliminary strategic dialogues held in June 2026, targeting expanded trade, infrastructure development, and institutional capacity building across EAC partner states.
Both delegations reinforced their commitment to advancing tangible economic benefits for the region while strengthening bilateral ties through sustainable, market-driven development projects.
