The President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, General Birame Diop, held diplomatic talks in Nigeria with the envoys of Qatar and Sudan to discuss regional peace, security, and economic co-operation.
Diop received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, Yousef Mohammed Ahmed Al-Hailand, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mohammed Abdelaai, in separate audiences at the ECOWAS Commission headquarters in Abuja.
The bilateral meetings focused on evaluating practical frameworks to strengthen institutional ties and expand co-operation on critical matters of mutual concern, including regional economic integration, sustainable development, and peace initiatives.
According to an official statement issued by the sub-regional body, the engagements highlight the commitment of ECOWAS to deepen strategic external partnerships beyond West Africa to foster regional stability and economic growth.
