Eleven suspects who alleged shot and killed nine patrons at a tavern in South Africa’s (SA) Gauteng West Rand are expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrate Court today
The suspects face charges of murder, attempted murder, unlicensed firearms and ammunition. According to an eyewitness who was hiding behind the door when the incident took place,  the suspects arrived at the tarven in a white combi and silver Sedan and started shooting at patrons and continued to fire randomly as they fled the scene. The gruesome mass shooting has left the community devastated and reeling in shock.
The owner of KwaNoxolo tavern, where the shooting occurred, was arrested a few days after the mass shooting. The community has called for more police visibility along with regular patrols as this is not first incident to take place. They say that this area only has four police stations that also have to service other areas making it extremely overstretched.
