Equatorial Guinea President addresses nation on 58th Independence anniversary

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea has commended citizens for upholding national sovereignty and freedom as the Central African nation marks its 58th anniversary of independence from Spain.

In an address marking the national milestone, Mbasogo highlighted key government achievements, pointing to the official designation of Ciudad de La Paz as the country’s new administrative capital earlier this year. He noted that moving the capital to the mainland interior brings government administration closer to all regions and accelerates regional development.

He also pointed to social welfare initiatives, including the rollout of social security and universal healthcare coverage, as central pillars of the administration’s commitment to citizen well-being.
