Equatorial Guinea has officially moved its capital from the island city of Malabo to the newly built mainland city of Ciudad de la Paz.
Geopolitical Analyst, Aaron Nga’mbi says the relocation is intended to promote economic development across the mainland and reduce congestion in Malabo, which has long served as the country’s administrative and political centre.
Ciudad de la Paz, previously known as Oyala, has been developed over several years with modern infrastructure to serve as the new seat of government, including offices, ministries, and official residences.
