The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has finalised the legal and regulatory framework for foreign investor participation in its capital market, with an announcement expected soon

The government has also submitted its fourth review for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility, anticipating a staff-level agreement shortly. Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pragma Investment Advisory, Mered Fikireyohannes says this is a huge milestone.

“Let me put it this is way it is a huge milestone, because mind you 55 decades ago we used to have a capital market and foreigner investment used to participate on it but it was not finalised but now after 5 decades, the regulator has finally finalised  has been working very hard to formalise the market and market infrastructure is there  the companies already feeling registered , materialising  their securities and ahead of the game, you know authorise are taking the lead and the initiative at the same time has at the same time said listen guys  we want a foreigner investors to come in and invest and we are already preparing the regulations, Fikireyohannes said.
