Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed says his country has taken drastic measures to address water shortages
He was addressing the African Union leaders’ summit in the country’s capital of Addis Ababa. Ahmed says no country can function without water.
“Water is more than a resource. It is a foundation of development, innovation and stability. It shapes our cities, our farms, our herds and our peace. Here in Ethiopia we have learnt that responsible water management is central to guiding development wisely. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam now powers homes and industries, export electricity to neighbouring countries,” he said.
