It was Europe’s first win on American soil since 2012. The Europeans held a record 11 and a half, four and a half lead going into Sunday’s 12 singles matches.
They held off a furious fight back by the Americans, who won a record-equalling eight and a half points in the singles, to secure a 15-13 victory on Long Island.
Europe has now won 11 of the last 15 Ryder Cups dating back to 1995 and Englishman Luke Donald is the first captain to win back-to-back editions of the biennial event since Tony Jacklin in the 1980s.
The 2027 Ryder Cup is back in Europe and will be played at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland.
