FIFA has entered into a major partnership with the Saudi Fund for Development, signing a Memorandum of Understanding that will unlock up to R1 billion ($ 57 872 million) in concessional loans for the construction and rehabilitation of sports stadiums and related infrastructure in developing countries.
The global football body says the agreement reflects a shared commitment to helping nations strengthen their sports ecosystems as part of broader efforts to drive social and economic development.
The programme will prioritise developing nations and their FIFA member associations, particularly those with clear national strategies to use sport as a catalyst for growth.
Through this partnership, national governments will receive support in planning, financing and building multi-sport facilities that meet international standards.
