Former South African (SA) President Thabo Mbeki has spoken out following recent marches by some SA citizens against undocumented migrants.
Speaking at a New Partnership for Africa’s Development event marking Africa Month celebrations, Mbeki said the current situation requires urgent attention.
Meanwhile Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs said it is closely monitoring the protests against undocumented foreign nationals in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province.
The statement follows days of tension with dozens of immigrants still camped outside Durban city’s Centre.
