Four of the five people suspected to have links to the Russian military are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court in the South African city of Johannesburg this morning
Four of them were  arrested at the O R Tambo International Airport a few days ago. Three were  allegedly on their way to Russia to join the military and one allegedly facilitated their recruitment. The fifth person was already in Russia.
Authorities also intercepted a fifth suspected recruit, who had already left the country, as well as another individual believed to be linked to the network. Following further interviews and searches, three more men were arrested and several electronic devices seized. The police’s crimes against the state unit says coordination with intelligence and international partners is ongoing to uncover the full scale of the recruitment network and any potential security threats.
