The man who allegedly ran a fake government agency right out of the Nigerian President’s office has been arrested after spending weeks in hiding.
Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who passed himself off as the Director-General of the fake “Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council”, was tracked down and arrested in southwestern Osun State.
The arrest comes after the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for Matthew, who failed to show up for a court date to face charges of forgery and impersonation.
The case has captured the public’s attention across Nigeria, especially after President Bola Tinubu ordered a corruption probe into the fake council last week.
