Ghana security forces have repatriated 120 Nigerian nationals who were rescued during a major intelligence-led sting operation targeting human trafficking and organised cybercrime syndicates in the country.
The joint exercise, codenamed Operation Cyberhunt, was spearheaded by Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority alongside local security and intelligence services, working in co-ordination with counterpart agencies from Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
According to security officials, the rescued individuals had been trafficked into Ghana under false pretenses and coerced into operating forced cybercrime setups in the Greater Accra region.
Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, confirmed that the Ghana Air Force and Ministry of Defence facilitated the return of the victims to Nigeria.
