Ghana will play an international friendly against Mexico in May as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.

The match will take place on May 22 at a venue in Mexico yet to be announced.

Both teams will use the match to assess players ahead of the global tournament hosted jointly by Mexico, Canada and the United States. Ghana’s squad is expected to include domestic league players, Europe-based players monitored by coach Otto Addo, as well as selected Under-23 players preparing for Olympic Games qualification campaigns.

The friendly forms part of Ghana’s wider World Cup preparation programme, which already includes matches against Austria and Germany in the March international window. The Black Stars will also face Panama on June 17 before their Group L World Cup fixtures against England and Croatia.

Ghana and Mexico are both using the preparatory fixtures to fine-tune their squads and strengthen their competitive edge ahead of the global tournament.
