Guinea-Bissau’s High Military Command for the Restoration of National Security and Public Order has approved a political transition charter, following a disruption of the constitutional order on November 26, 2025.
The new charter outlines the redistribution of public powers in the wake of the crisis, establishing a 12-month transitional framework while keeping parts of the Constitution in place.
Alpha Abdoulaye Diallo, political commentator and editor of the newspaper Le Populaire, said the charter provides a legal structure to guide governance during the transition and aims to restore stability in the country.
