Clashes between AFC/M23 rebels and the Congolese army are continuing in remote parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with little apparent attention from international mediators.
The growing number of wounded is placing severe strain on local health facilities. One hospital supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross, visited by Reuters last month, was operating at more than four times its 25-bed capacity.
Medical staff are struggling to cope as casualties arrive faster than they can be treated, underscoring the humanitarian toll of the ongoing conflict in the region.
