The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) , says doctors who issue deceitful or untruthful medical certificates will be dealt with harshly.
The comes after Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga’s warning to witnesses who submit what he called “useless” medical certificates” to avoid appearing before the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria.
The commission probing criminal infiltration and political interference in the country’s criminal justice system, received at least three medical certificates in recent weeks.
The HPCSA’s head of Corporate Affairs, Priscilla Sekhonyana says health professionals should honour their ethical obligations.
