ICRC warns of worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan’s Kordofan states

Hospitals, markets and residential areas have been targeted, leaving hundreds dead, displacing thousands, and crippling access to basic services. The ICRC says the situation is pushing communities to the brink, as health systems collapse and humanitarian needs grow.

Daniel O’Malley, the ICRC’s Head of Delegation in Sudan, says the most vulnerable are paying the highest price.

“The wounded and the sick are especially at risk. Medical staff have fled, facilities have been damaged or destroyed, and people are left without access to urgent care.”

The ICRC has called on all sides to uphold international humanitarian law and protect civilians as well as critical infrastructure, including healthcare services.
