As South Africa (SA) counts down to the November 4, local government elections, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has launched a special issue of the Journal of African Elections.
The Chapter 9 institution worked with the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa on the publication.
It examines both progress and persistent challenges in ensuring elections reflect the true will of the people.

With local government elections approaching, the IEC says it is engaging stakeholders to ensure credible and successful polls on November 4.

Experts are calling for stronger safeguards to uphold free and fair elections. The IEC says it will intensify voter education efforts.
