India is gearing up to host its biggest diplomatic showpiece of the year, the 18th Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) Summit, even as the US-Iran conflict threatens consensus.
Leaders of the world’s most influential emerging economies BRICS are set to arrive in New Delhi next month.
But questions remain over whether the bloc can keep its focus on its economic agenda – or if divisions over the war in the Middle East will overshadow talks.

In just under a month now, India’s capital New Delhi will host world leaders from the countries that account for nearly a third of the world’s GDP – and half the world’s population.
But it could be India’s most complicated chairship yet, presiding over a group that has nearly doubled in size and grown far less cohesive.
SA’s Cyril Ramaphosa is likely to travel to Delhi for the summit, as is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to attend, what would be his first visit to India since the two countries engaged in a military border stand off six years ago.
