Former Bafana Bafana Assistant Coach Cedomir Janevski has lauded head Coach Hugo Broos for his resilience and belief in his vision for the national team, despite initial scepticism when he took charge in 2021.
Janevski, who worked alongside Broos during the early stages of his tenure before departing for a coaching role in Cyprus, says he has continued to follow South Africa’s progress under his friend and former colleague.
Speaking on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified following Bafana Bafana’s qualification for next year’s FIFA World Cup, Janevski praised Broos for his commitment and mental strength.
“I know him very well from Belgium, and I can assure you that he is a very nice person,” Janevski said. “We’ve been friends for a long time, and I’ve followed his career as both a player and a coach, and he just knows how to silence his critics.”
Broos faced significant criticism when he began his rebuilding process, which involved introducing young, relatively inexperienced players to the national setup. However, his persistence and long-term vision have paid off, with Bafana securing a return to football’s biggest stage.
