Kaizer Chiefs secured their spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages after a commanding 3–1 victory over Democratic Republic of Congo’s AS Simba at Dobsonville Stadium.
The aggregate score over the two legs also finished 3–1, following a goalless draw in Lubumbashi.
The Soweto side capitalised on home advantage with a fast, fluid display that left the Congolese visitors chasing the game. Chiefs quickly set the tone: just three minutes in, Etiosa Ighodaro marked his continental debut with a sharp finish. Simba goalkeeper Dida Alhassani could not hold onto Glody Lilepo’s powerful shot, allowing Ighodaro to slot the ball home.
From there, Chiefs maintained control, combining organised defending, precise set pieces, and clinical attacking play to keep Simba at bay. The victory not only confirmed their progression but also provides a confidence boost as the team prepares for the next stage of continental competition.
