Head coach of the Kenya national women’s wheelchair basketball team, Sarah Libese, has called for increased playing opportunities to help her side reach its full potential.
Libese says regular competition is key to helping players handle the pressure of major tournaments and build confidence in high-intensity environments.
She was speaking after the team secured a fifth-place finish at the African Championships in Angola. Kenya recorded a commanding 65–5 victory over Liberia at the Pavilhão Multiuso de Kilamba, their first win of the tournament.
However, the side had earlier suffered heavy defeats against Algeria, Morocco, South Africa and hosts Angola.
Libese says the team remains a work in progress, noting that many of the players are still young and gaining experience at the highest level.
